Meet the Bikes

February 19, 2013

As of January 2013 I have three motorcycles in the garage.  Yeah, we have a few other toys in there too, but only three of them are my bikes.  The bikes, in order of engine size, are:

  • 2009 Kawasaki KLR650:
I purchased this bike brand new with 6 miles on the odometer ( I think I put just about all of that on during the test ride).  The KLR is a fun little bike that lets me run around on the dirt as well as on paved roads, though I don’t like to take it on the interstate.
  • 2004 Suzuki DL1000 V-Strom:
I traded my 2006 Honda VTX1800 for this bike.  When I bought it, the V-Strom had 35,865 miles on it.  This is by far my favorite of the three bikes I currently own, though I usually keep the saddlebags (panniers) off unless I feel that I will need the extra storage space.
  • 2007 Honda GL1800 Goldwing:
As I mentioned above, this bike was purchased to allow my wife to go on rides with me.  When I got it, the Goldwing had 35,345 miles on it.  Both my wife and I really enjoy riding this bike together, but on solo rides I prefer to ride the V-Strom.
